Advice for COPD patients
Although
COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
cannot be cured, there are some advice from the Patient Guide by the Global Initiative for chronic obstructive lung disease (GOLD) that may help slow its progress:
smoking is the number one cause for COPD. If you do not stop smoking once COPD has been diagnosed, your symptoms will get worse. Use all possible support to break the habit (counseling, nicotine replacements…)
take all the medicine as prescribed by your physician
avoid all respiratory irritants (tobacco smoke, air pollution, certain gases)
avoid colds
exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet
