OXYTRAVEL®

Most oxygen-dependent patients would agree that travelling with medicinal oxygen is difficult. Many patients would probably even prefer to stay at home because of the hassle of organizing everything in advance, not to mention the stress and anxiety during the trip. To help patients realize their holiday travel dreams, even outside their home country, we have created OXYTRAVEL® in co-operation with our partner International SOS.

OXYTRAVEL® takes care of all medicinal oxygen needs throughout a patient’s journey, freeing patients of the need to organize an international trip by themselves. In co-operation with International SOS, the medical service specialist, we can offer a 24 hour line, ready to respond to patient requests at any time, 7 days a week. If you are planning a trip, please fill in the request file below and send it to oxytravel@internationalsos.com (at least two weeks before your trip starts) or fax it direct to our service centre at Fax No. + 420 222 111 126. We will soon contact you with more details about oxygen supply in your destination country.

Tips and advice for patients travelling with medicinal oxygen

  • A lot of patients do not dare to travel, even though they are physically able to do so. If your physician allows you to travel, you shouldn’t stop yourself.
  • On a plane, some patients who are normally not dependent on medicinal oxygen might have problems, as the pressure might be changing. Please consult your physician before a trip to administer an “altitude test“ to see how you react under those circumstances.
  • Most airlines do not allow you to bring your own oxygen devices on board. Please contact the airline before flying, as the regulations change. The British Lung Foundation lists the policies of the different airlines:www.lunguk.org
  • In case you want more information, please check out the page Breathin’ Easy, an internet forum dedicated to oxygen-travelling patients.www.breathineasy.com
