Many patients would probably even prefer to stay at home because of the hassle of organizing everything in advance, not to mention the stress and anxiety during the trip. Tips and advice for patients travelling with medicinal oxygen
- A lot of patients do not dare to travel, even though they are physically able to do so. If your physician allows you to travel, you shouldn’t stop yourself.
- On a plane, some patients who are normally not dependent on medicinal oxygen might have problems, as the pressure might be changing. Please consult your physician before a trip to administer an “altitude test“ to see how you react under those circumstances.
- Most airlines do not allow you to bring your own oxygen devices on board. Please contact the airline before flying, as the regulations change. The British Lung Foundation lists the policies of the different airlines:www.lunguk.org
